i have a dir 615 router, on an xp home03, my wireless connection is excellent, but it says it is trying to validate identity.
To fix, you go into the properties page of your wireless connection, go to "Wireless Networks" tab and then to Properties of the chosen wireless network you are trying to connect to.
3) Your "Wireless Connection Properties" box will open showing the Wireless Networks available.
Find the wireless network you are connected to and highlight it by clicking once, then click "Properties" just below. But on my system I also had to un-check a statement about getting information stored on the computer before it would let me un-check the "Enable IEEE 802.1x Authentication...." checkbox. Hi, a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
4) Another box will then open with the properties for your network. 5) Un-check the "Enable IEEE 802.1x Authentication...." checkbox. best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
Then go to "authentification" tab and untick the box saying "Enable IEEE802.1x to the availiable network" and that should solve your problem Graham UKRight, Graham's solution worked for me.
I had been able to connect previously, but the connection would always indicate that it was validating.
